Welcome to SingSoc, Sheffield University's best
society!
SingSoc are a very active choral society with 3 non-auditioned choirs.
Members (both students and non-students) cover a wide range of singing
experiences and everyone has great fun whilst making a fantastic noise!
Come and join us at one of our rehearsals - the phrase "I can't sing"
is one that shouldn't exist!
News
09/03/10:
Wow, it's been a while since this has been updated, which means that
everything is going swimmingly backstage, so huzzah! Since there's
nothing in particular to report, I'll just say that the Events page has
been updated with information regarding our big concert and the 007
formal, so go and have a look.
Also, we're having Committee elections
pretty soon, which means all of you interested in becoming more
involved in the running of SingSoc now get your chance to do so. Being
on the Committee is incredibly rewarding; you make friends, get to know
what's going on most of the time, and have prime access to the pencils.
It also looks pretty fab on a C.V. and is a chance for you to try
something new, so keep an eye out this Thursday for information
regarding that.
Finally I'd just like to say that it's not
too late to get yourself a hoody!
Rehearsals:
Main Chorus: Thursdays, 7.30 - 9.30, Lecture
Theatre 4, Arts Tower.
Ladies Choir: Mondays, 6.30 - 7.30, Lecture
Theatre 4, Arts Tower.
Socii Cantorum: Mondays, 7.30 - 9.15, Lecture
Theatre 4, Arts Tower.
(Please
be aware that Small Groups (Ladies' Choir and Socii) rehearsals have
been moved to Arts Tower LT4 - where Main Chorus rehearsals are held.)
Using Naxos
Naxos is a recording company who
have done everything ever written as far as classical music is
concerned, (it seems, at least!) and all their music is online,
streamable and, if you're a student, free! It's a bit tricky to get to,
but hopefully this link
should give you instructions on how to get there and start making sure
you know your parts for the November concert (and all our others as
well!)
